Uploading…Innovation
”We build our technologies as a way of addressing all our anxieties and desires. They are our passions congealed into these prosthetic extensions of ourselves. And they do it in a way that reflects what we dream ourselves capable of doing” Richard Powers
I am writing to invite you to a special event at NESTA which takes place on the afternoon and evening of 27 February. Lunch will be served from 1.30 with the event starting at 2.30 and running through to 6.30 with drinks to follow.
NESTA is the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts – the largest single endowment in the UK devoted to innovation and has a publicly stated position ambition to becoming the single biggest catalyst for business, social and public policy innovation in the UK.
To help us cultivate a new national conversation about innovation we have recently established NESTA Connect to explore how innovation can be stimulated through networks and collaborative working between different disciplines, organisations and places.
The Uploading…Innovation conference has been convened to help us to learn from those people who have been at the forefront of the development of new participatory ways of working, those who have harnessed the network effects of emerging technologies of collaboration to create new business models, new products and services, to bring about culture change within organisations and disruptive innovation to their sectors.
We would like to invite 100 of the leading collaboratives in the UK into a conversation about how we shape our innovation policy and our programmes to ensure that they optimise the potential of the social, viral and community hallmarks of the Web.
With our partners at Policy Unplugged we have identified 100 people from a range of backgrounds including social software developers, bloggers, Web 2.0 start ups, people working within private, public and not for profit organisations, communication professionals, writers and journalists whom we would like to bring together both on line and face-to-face on the afternoon and early evening of 27 February 2007 to start a conversation about participatory culture and its impact on how we should think about innovation in the UK.
We would be delighted if you could join us. Further details and registration information are here

The format for this event will be loosely structured, open and conversational. Our goal is to make it self organising and informal, but also to inform the development of NESTA Connects objective of providing the environment for innovation to flourish through supporting new connections and collaborations. Hopefully this will enable us and you to get the most out of the event.
We hope you can join us on 27 February. If you are able to attend we will send you an invitation to upload a profile, a photo and connect with other participants in advance of the event
If you have any queries regarding the event, please in the first instance contact Steve Moore at Policy Unplugged on 0870 366 5280 or

Yours sincerely,
